STARR

A STARR student is just that--one who has exhibited proficiencies and abilities that merit special opportunities. At PA Cyber, these opportunities include special access to online enrichment, GATE days for gifted students, participation in academic competitions, educational expeditions and special guest speakers.

STARR stands for Student Tasks for Academic Rigor and Responsibility, and is a program open to qualified students that meet two or more of the following criteria:

  • Is in an advanced grade level placement
  • Scored in the 90th percentile on the reading or math portion of the Scantron Test
  • Has Advanced standing in either the reading or the math PSSA or an equivalent standardized test

In addition, a STARR student must have a teacher recommendation based on a grade point average of 3.25 or better. STARR students must agree to the conditions and expectations detailed in the STARR contract. The agreement must be signed by both student and parents.
